Making the Pastries
- In a bowl, combine the flour, salt, and granulated sugar. Whisk until well blended.
- In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
- Add the sour cream and egg to the butter mixture. Beat until smooth and well incorporated.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms. Knead gently just until combined.
- In another bowl, mix the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and chopped nuts (if using).
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into triangles or tree shapes.
- Sprinkle a generous amount of the cinnamon filling on half of each triangle. Fold the other half over and press the edges to seal securely.
- Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15-18 minutes.
- Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth for the glaze.
- Once the pastries are out and cooled slightly, drizzle the glaze over the top. Let it set for a few minutes before serving.
