Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Mix the cream of mushroom soup and whole milk in a bowl until smooth. Stir in garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish, then follow with half of the diced ham and half of the soup mixture. Repeat this layering process.
  4. Top the casserole with the grated sharp cheddar cheese. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  5. Cool for a few minutes before serving to allow the flavors to settle.
