How to Make Red Velvet Blossom Cookies
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 tsp baking soda, and 1/2 tsp salt.
- In a separate large bowl, beat 1 cup of softened unsalted butter and 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Incorporate 2 large eggs, 2 tsp vanilla extract, and 1 tbsp red food coloring into the butter mixture.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. If using chocolate chips, gently fold them in now.
- Scoop out portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about two inches apart.
- Bake for about 10 minutes, or until the cookies are puffy and set.
